GLS Poland API

Globe Pickup Points integrates with GLS Poland through the ADE-Plus WebAPI. With this integration, you can:
- Export orders to GLS Poland directly from Shopify
- Print shipping labels within Shopify, for a label printer (10x16 cm) or four on A4
- Ship to addresses in Poland and the other EU countries
- Ship to GLS ParcelShops in Poland and 19 other European countries
- Deliver to Polish addresses by 10:00, by 12:00 or on Saturday
- Have Globe create the pickup confirmation (Potwierdzenie nadania) for each batch of labels
- Track parcels on GLS Poland’s tracking page
GLS Poland collects cash on delivery in PLN at Polish addresses. See Cash on delivery (COD).
This integration is for merchants with a GLS Poland account on ADE-Plus. GLS accounts in Central Europe use the MyGLS API integration, GLS Spain accounts the GLS Spain API integration.
Enabling GLS Poland API integration
Section titled “Enabling GLS Poland API integration”You need an ADE-Plus WebAPI account from GLS Poland. GLS Poland sets it up free of charge when you send their WebAPI request form. The WebAPI login is not your ADE-Plus web login.
- In your Shopify admin, open Globe Pickup Points and navigate to Shipping labels. Click Add carrier and select GLS Poland.
- Enter your WebAPI login and WebAPI password.
- Select the Environment: Production creates real parcels. Development uses GLS Poland’s test system (ade-test.gls-poland.com) and needs a login for that system.
- Select who creates the Pickup confirmation (Potwierdzenie nadania): I create it in ADE-Plus or Globe creates it with each batch of labels. See Pickup confirmation.
- Optionally, click Show advanced settings and set the Default weight (kg), used when an order has no weight.
- Configure fulfillment and tagging options as needed:
- Automatically fulfill orders: Never, Yes, send order shipped email with the tracking number or Yes, do not send order shipped email. When enabled, the order is fulfilled after export with the GLS parcel number, GLS as the carrier and a link to GLS Poland’s tracking page.
- Automatically tag orders with tracking number adds the parcel number as an order tag.
- Custom tag after export adds your own tag after every successful export.
- Map your Shopify shipping methods to a GLS Poland product. The mapping is optional. You can change the product for each order when you create the label.
There are no sender fields. GLS prints the sender address of your ADE-Plus account on the label.
Products
Section titled “Products”| Product in Globe | Delivery |
|---|---|
| GLS (ParcelShop if selected, otherwise address) | To the GLS ParcelShop the customer picked in checkout (ShopDelivery), otherwise to the address. Also used when no product is set. |
| GLS (address) | To the address in Poland or another EU country, also when the order has a pickup point. |
| GLS ParcelShop | To the GLS ParcelShop on the order. An order without one is refused. |
| GLS delivery by 10:00 (address in Poland) | To a Polish address by 10:00. |
| GLS delivery by 12:00 (address in Poland) | To a Polish address by 12:00. |
| GLS Saturday delivery (address in Poland) | To a Polish address on Saturday. |
GLS offers delivery by 10:00, by 12:00 and on Saturday per postcode. If GLS does not serve the postcode with the service, it refuses the parcel: ship the order as GLS (address).
GLS Poland enables services per account. If your account does not include a service, GLS refuses the parcel and the message names the service. Ask GLS Poland to enable it, or choose another product.
Pickup confirmation
Section titled “Pickup confirmation”The GLS courier collects the parcels on the pickup confirmation (Potwierdzenie nadania). The Pickup confirmation (Potwierdzenie nadania) setting decides who creates it:
- I create it in ADE-Plus: the parcels wait in the Preparing box (Przygotowalnia) in ADE-Plus. You create the confirmation there and print it for the courier. Until then, you can still delete a parcel in the Preparing box.
- Globe creates it with each batch of labels: after the labels of an export, Globe puts the parcels of the batch on one pickup confirmation, with the description
Globeand the date and time in Warsaw. A confirmed parcel can no longer be deleted.
If GLS Poland does not create the confirmation, the labels stay valid and the parcels stay in the Preparing box. Create the confirmation in ADE-Plus. Globe prints the labels only, not the pickup confirmation.
Exporting and printing labels
Section titled “Exporting and printing labels”You can export orders to GLS Poland and print shipping labels directly from Shopify, either in bulk or individually. For the label workflow itself, see Creating shipping labels.
Globe logs in to GLS Poland before it sends anything. If GLS refuses the login, no order of the batch is sent.
Exporting an order puts one consignment with one parcel into the Preparing box in ADE-Plus. GLS assigns the 11-digit parcel number, which is the tracking number. Parcels are tracked at https://gls-group.eu/PL/pl/sledzenie-paczek?match=<parcel number>, for every destination. The Shopify order name is sent as the reference and printed on the label, up to 25 characters.
The parcel weight comes from the order. If the order has no weight, the Default weight (kg) is used. If neither is set, the order is not exported. GLS takes parcels up to 31.5 kg in Poland and 40 kg abroad. Your GLS Poland account may have lower limits.
The street takes up to 46 characters. The second address line joins the street when both fit, and goes to a separate name line on the label otherwise.
Globe sends the orders of a batch one after another. If Globe cannot tell whether GLS Poland created a consignment, for example because GLS did not answer in time, the error asks you to check the Preparing box (Przygotowalnia) in ADE-Plus before you create the label again. Globe then stops before the next order of the batch. The orders it did not send can be exported again safely. Globe also stops the batch when GLS Poland does not accept parcels from the account.
If GLS takes a consignment but gives it no parcel number, or Globe cannot save the parcel, Globe deletes the consignment from the Preparing box again. If that fails too, the error names the consignment to delete in ADE-Plus.
Globe does not cancel GLS Poland parcels. With I create it in ADE-Plus, delete a parcel in the Preparing box before you create the pickup confirmation. Creating the label for the same order again creates a second parcel.
The integration does not sync delivery statuses back to Shopify.
Pickup points
Section titled “Pickup points”Globe sends GLS’s ParcelShop ID, for example GLS_PL-6100012345, to GLS Poland. The customer selects the ParcelShop at checkout from a GLS pickup point provider; to offer GLS points, see Adding pickup point carriers. GLS prints the ParcelShop as the consignee, with the customer’s name.
GLS Poland delivers to ParcelShops in Poland, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. The ParcelShop must be in the country of the shipping address.
GLS tells the customer that the parcel is ready by text message or e-mail, so an order to a ParcelShop needs a valid phone number or e-mail address. A Polish phone is sent as its nine digits, a foreign one with + and the country code.
An order with a point from another carrier’s network, or with a GLS point in another country, is not exported. It is never shipped to the customer’s address instead. Choose a GLS ParcelShop with the Modify pickup point action, or use GLS (address).
GLS refuses a ParcelShop it no longer knows, or one closed for holidays on the shipping date. Choose another ParcelShop with the Modify pickup point action.
If your shop also has a MyGLS account, Globe picks GLS Poland by itself only for GLS points in Poland. For GLS points in other countries, map the shipping method to GLS Poland.
International shipments
Section titled “International shipments”To addresses, GLS Poland ships to Poland and the other EU countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. Destinations outside the EU need a customs declaration, which Globe does not send, so those orders are not exported.
- GLS (address) and GLS (ParcelShop if selected, otherwise address) work for every EU country.
- GLS ParcelShop works in the ParcelShop countries listed under Pickup points.
- Delivery by 10:00, by 12:00 and on Saturday are for Polish addresses only.
- No cash on delivery abroad.
Cash on delivery (COD)
Section titled “Cash on delivery (COD)”GLS Poland collects cash on delivery:
- in PLN only. An order in another currency is not exported.
- at Polish addresses only. An order with a COD amount to another country is not exported.
- not at a ParcelShop. An order with a COD amount to a GLS ParcelShop is not exported.
In these cases, set the COD amount in the label panel to 0 if the order is already paid, use GLS (address) for a ParcelShop order to a Polish address, or ship the order with another carrier. The label panel flags a COD amount abroad or to a ParcelShop before you export.
Cash on delivery must be enabled on your GLS Poland account. GLS refuses an amount above the limit of your account.
Label printing
Section titled “Label printing”GLS Poland labels can be printed in the following formats:
| Format | Labels |
|---|---|
| Label printer, 10x16 cm | One 101 × 160 mm label per page |
| 4 labels on A4 | Four labels per A4 sheet, 2 × 2 |
When printing on A4, you can select the starting position on the sheet (positions 1–4) to reuse partially used sheets. If Globe cannot place the labels on A4, it prints them at their own size.
Labels for several orders are combined into one PDF, in the order of export. International parcels get GLS’s international label on the same page size.
Globe fetches each label from GLS Poland when you print, from the Preparing box or from the pickup confirmation, so you can print a label again later. GLS hands out a label for 60 days after the parcel number. If GLS does not hand out the label of one of the selected parcels, Globe prints none of them and names the missing parcel.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”When GLS Poland refuses a parcel, the message starts with GLS Poland refused the parcel: and ends with GLS’s error key in brackets. Nothing was created for that order.
