Globe Pickup Points integrates with Pósturinn (Iceland Post) for shipments within Iceland. With this integration, you can:

Export orders to Pósturinn directly from Shopify
Print shipping labels within Shopify
Ship to Póstbox parcel lockers, Pakkaport parcel points, post offices or the customer’s address
Collect cash on delivery in ISK
Fulfill orders automatically with the Pósturinn tracking number

Enabling Pósturinn API integration

In your Shopify admin, open Globe Pickup Points and navigate to Shipping labels. Click Add carrier and select Pósturinn (Iceland Post).
Enter your API key. Create it on Fyrirtækjasíður (fyrirtaeki.posturinn.is) under Stillingar > API lyklar. Labels use the sender details and delivery services of the webshop the key belongs to, so there are no sender fields in Globe.
Select the Environment. Production creates real shipments. Development uses the Pósturinn test environment. The key must match the environment: a key from the Pósturinn test environment works only with Development, and a production key only with Production.
Under Advanced settings (click Show advanced settings), you can set Default weight (kg), which is used when an order has no weight.
Configure fulfillment and tagging options as needed: Automatically fulfill orders, Automatically tag orders with tracking number and Custom tag after export. Automatic fulfillment adds the Pósturinn shipment number and tracking link to the order, with or without the order shipped email.
Map your Shopify shipping methods for Iceland to the Pósturinn service types. Map pickup point shipping methods to Pósturinn (pickup point if selected, otherwise home delivery) or Pickup point (Póstbox, Pakkaport or post office), because the home delivery service types ignore the pickup point.

Exporting and printing labels

You can export orders to Pósturinn and print shipping labels directly from Shopify, either in bulk or individually. For the label workflow itself, see Creating shipping labels.

Each label is one Pósturinn shipment with one parcel. Labels cover shipments within Iceland only, and orders to other countries are refused. The Pósturinn shipment number is used as the tracking number, and parcels are tracked at https://posturinn.is/einstaklingar/mottaka/fylgstu-med-sendingunni-thinni/?q=<shipment number>.

The Shopify order number is sent as the shipment reference and printed on the label.

The Pósturinn integration does not update delivery statuses in Shopify.

Service types

Choose the service type when you create the label, or map shipping methods so it is selected automatically:

Service type	Delivery
Pósturinn (pickup point if selected, otherwise home delivery)	To the Pósturinn pickup point the customer selected at checkout (Póstbox, Pakkaport or post office), or to the customer’s address when the order has no pickup point. A pickup point of another network is refused.
Pickup point (Póstbox, Pakkaport or post office)	To the Pósturinn pickup point on the order. Orders without one, or with a pickup point of another network, are refused.
Home delivery	To the customer’s address, also when the order has a pickup point.
Home delivery, rural areas	To the customer’s address in a rural area, also when the order has a pickup point.
Post office nearest to the recipient	To the post office the customer selected at checkout. Otherwise, also when the order has a Póstbox or Pakkaport, to the post office nearest to the recipient.

Pickup points

Globe supports three kinds of Pósturinn pickup points: Póstbox parcel lockers, Pakkaport parcel points and post offices (Pósthús). The shipment is addressed to the point the customer selected, with the point’s name, postcode and town as the delivery address.

Póstbox and Pakkaport take parcels under 20 kg. A parcel of 20 kg or more is refused at export.
Pakkaport needs the recipient’s mobile phone number, because Pósturinn notifies the recipient by SMS. An Icelandic number counts as a mobile number when it has 7 digits and starts with 6, 7 or 8.
Pakkaport does not take cash on delivery. See Cash on delivery (COD).
A Pósturinn pickup point saved on the order without its postcode, or one that Globe cannot match to a Pósturinn location, is refused at export instead of being shipped to the customer’s address. Choose the point again with the Modify pickup point action, or export the order with a home delivery service type.

Cash on delivery (COD)

Pósturinn collects cash on delivery in ISK only.

For orders with a cash on delivery payment method, the COD amount is filled in automatically. You can change it in the label creation panel (COD amount). With a COD amount of 0, the parcel is sent without COD.
A COD order in any other currency is refused at export.
Globe sends COD with every service type except delivery to a Pakkaport parcel point. A COD order to a Pakkaport is refused at export. Choose a Póstbox or a post office with Modify pickup point, or set the COD amount to 0.

Label printing

Pósturinn labels can be printed in six formats: 9x15 cm, 10x12 cm, 10x7 cm, 6x11 cm, 9x5 cm and A4. 9x15 cm is the default and fits 100 × 150 mm thermal labels.

Each label is printed on its own page, so there is no starting position to select. Globe fetches the labels from Pósturinn as PDF in the selected format each time you print, and merges labels printed together into one PDF. If Pósturinn returns only some of the labels, the PDF contains only those, so check that every order has its label.

Troubleshooting

Issue	Resolution
Pósturinn API key is not set	Enter your API key in the carrier settings.
Pósturinn rejected the API key	Check the API key, and that Environment matches it. A key from the Pósturinn test environment works only with Development.
The order goes to another country	Pósturinn labels in Globe cover shipments within Iceland only. Ship the order with another carrier.
”…” is not a Pósturinn product	The shipping method is mapped to a service type that no longer exists. Choose a Pósturinn service type for the shipping method in the carrier settings.
The Pósturinn pickup point has no postcode saved on the order, or Globe cannot map it to a Pósturinn location	Choose the point again with the Modify pickup point action, or export the order with a home delivery service type.
The order has a pickup point of another network	Pósturinn cannot deliver to it. Choose a Pósturinn point with Modify pickup point, or export the order with a home delivery service type.
The order has no Pósturinn pickup point, but Pósturinn pickup delivery was chosen	Pickup point (Póstbox, Pakkaport or post office) needs a Pósturinn pickup point on the order. Add one with Modify pickup point, or choose a service type that ships to the address.
The order has no weight	Set the product weight in Shopify, enter the weight in the label creation panel, or set Default weight (kg).
The parcel is too heavy for a Póstbox or Pakkaport	These points take parcels under 20 kg. Choose a post office with Modify pickup point, or export the order with a home delivery service type.
Pósturinn collects cash on delivery only in ISK	Set the COD amount to 0 to ship the order without COD.
Pakkaport parcel points do not take cash on delivery	Choose a Póstbox or a post office with Modify pickup point, or set the COD amount to 0.
The order needs a recipient name, a street and a 3-digit Icelandic postcode	Complete the shipping address on the order.
Pakkaport delivery needs the recipient’s mobile phone number	Add a mobile phone number to the order’s shipping address. An Icelandic landline number is not accepted.
Globe could not connect to Pósturinn, so nothing was created	Try again in a minute.
Pósturinn did not answer in time, the connection broke off, or Pósturinn did not confirm the shipment	The shipment may already exist. Globe does not retry these exports automatically. Check the Pósturinn business portal before you export the order again, because a new export could create a second shipment.
Pósturinn created the shipment, but Globe could not save it	The label cannot be printed in Globe. Do not create it again, because Pósturinn would create a second shipment. Write to help@appfleece.com with the shipment number from the message.
Error text starting with `Pósturinn:`	The message comes from Pósturinn, sometimes in Icelandic. Pósturinn did not create the shipment, so correct what the message names and export the order again.
Label could not be prepared for printing	Pósturinn returned none of the selected labels. Print again in a moment. If it keeps failing, check the API key and Environment in the carrier settings. The shipment exists, so do not create the label again.
